Re: anyone use the 45 hornady sp?
I have shot many coyotes using the Hornady 45gr SP...and all have produced excellent results! Ranges varied from 50yds to over 300yds, somebroadside and all other angles as well. I even shot one in the head and there was not a big explosion at all. I keep all furs as our Saskatchewan coyotes are pri...

Re: 45 GR Hornady Bullets?
Sorry thats its taken me so long to respond, the twist of my CZ is 1:12. It shoots those 45gr SP just fine since they are not as long as the 40gr V-max. Also, they have a pretty decent BC of 0.245. I have honestly done very well with them, especially with our large Saskatchewan coyotes.

Re: 45 GR Hornady Bullets?
Just to update, I managed to call in one coyote this past weekend. It was a 235 yard shot with the coyote facing broadside. The bullet entered about four inches back of the right shoulder and slightly high, exiting the exact opposite side. Upon skinninf the coyote, there was a 20cal hole in and a sl...

Re: 45 GR Hornady Bullets?
I have shot coyotes with the factory Hornady 45 gr SP with really good results. Now, I should mention that I do not reload, yet wanted a bullet that I could use to retain the hides. This bullet is the best factory option that I have tried. Yes I have had pass throughs but with little to no damage wh...

Re: What do you think of the current version of Rem 597 in 22lr
I do agree with you both that there is alot of accessories that can be bought for the 10/22. Sidewinderwa, are those 597's that you have seen sent back the earlier versions or more recent ones? I was also wondering what kind of faults did they have?

What do you think of the current version of Rem 597 in 22lr
Do to a recent walleye tourny that my son (8yrs old) and I entered we are wondering what to purchase with our prize money. We finished 4th and this is the first time that we have placed in the money for a walleye tourny. I suggested that we get something that will last a long time so that we can bot...

Re: My first called coyote(s). Double!!!
Thanks for the write up and the pics as well. I too use the Hornady 45gr SP and have found just the opposite effect regarding fur friendliness. I have shot coyotes dead center of the chest looking at me where 50% of the time there is an exit near the butt end but really small (I actaully figure that...

Re: How does forrest fire smoke affect bullet trajectory?
Thanks Joe, good thing that the smoke cleared up before I hit the range. Before I went you couldn't see 125 yards!

How does forrest fire smoke affect bullet trajectory?
I'm not sure if this question has ever been asked. I ask cause we have lots of it. So much that there is health warnings out for the young and elderly as well as those with respiratory problems. It looked like fog this morning.
Does anyone know?

Its been a Long Time!
Hey there fellas, its been a long time since I've last been on. Hope to get aquainted with all you new members and re-aquainted with you more experienced members as well. Dusting off the .204 tomorrow and hitting the range. Want to make sure every thing is dialed in before coyote season starts. Sorr...

Re: Remmington 40 GR accu tips
LOL - No, they don't suck. It's just that 40 grains is on the upper edge of stability using a .204 1 in 12 twist barrel, some rifles shoot them fine, others don't like them at all - even identical rifles from the same manufacturer are hit and miss. Trying to work up loads for your own particular ri...

Re: bullet?
If you are going to reload I definately suggest the 35 or 40 gr bergers but there is also the 45 gr SP by Hornady that is also available. I use the factory offerings by hornady in the 45 gr SP and they work awesome. No offending holes, great for keeping fur and they have a decent B.C of 0.245 so the...

Re: 45 gr soft point hornady's in a 1 in 12 twist
They shoot really well in my CZ 527 American. In the ballpark of 0.5-0.8 inch groups @ 100 yds.
Wonderful on coyotes also!

Re: 45 grain soft points for yotes!
I like 'em cause I know that they will crush bone. In some cases, I've had a head shot that would've put the lighter rounds out of the ring. That 45 gr busted right through the skull, or shoulder. I agree with Sniper, the 45's allow for all types of shots at all different stances with much more of ...
