Re: First 2 coyotes with Hornady 45gr SP
i have been thinking about getting those 45gr. this topic has confirmed it, thanks. I'm glad that I was able to help! I am very pleased with the performance thus far. As mentioned neither one of the coyotes taken were textbook shots (broadside) yet the bullet did hardly any damage. I know for a fac...

Re: Another converted 204 lover!
Welcome to the forum and happy shooting with that new gun. All the CZ's that I have heard about are real good shooters and yours should be no exception!

Re: Silverfox FINALLY Goes Calling!
Silverfox: I do have to commend you at your ability to relay a story on such a way that it feels like the reader is right there beside you. Also, the pictures that you provide are taken with much care and attention and are so wonderful to look at. ( This is something that I have to practice at) A ve...

Re: CZ bolt
It all depends on the scope and of cours the size of the lenses. I have a Bushnell 3200 Elite ( 3X9-40mm) on my CZ and there is no issues with some room to spare.

Re: First 2 coyotes with Hornady 45gr SP
Hi Walleyman, very nice......you must be one lucky man to have a 12 twist that suits a bullet range from 32 through to 45 grains. cheers KB. I should probably clarify that I have tried the following factory loads. 32gr Vmax, 34gr Win JHP, and 45gr Hornady SP. They all shoot good but I was looking f...

Re: First 2 coyotes with Hornady 45gr SP
My 204 is a CZ 527 American that has the factory barrel on it which I believe is a 1 in 12 twist. I love this gun, it shoots really well and will now shoot everything from the light 32's (Vmax) to the heavier 45's (SP)Rick in Oregon wrote:walleyeman: Good job....what twist is your 204 barrel?

Re: First 2 coyotes with Hornady 45gr SP
The typical weight up here is around 30-40 lbs but I have trapped some fairly big dogs that were in the 50lbs range.Ryan S Albright wrote:Good job! I was wondering if the coyote are heaver up north than they are down here. What do you estamate the weight of the coyote are up there?

Re: Factory load for .204 VLS
Are you looking for just target accuracy or a hunting bullet and if so for what species. The reason I say this is because in my 204 ( although it is a CZ) the most accurate factory rounds are the Hornady 32 gr Vmax but the best coyote round is the Hornady 45 gr SP. Note: The 32's will group under an...

First 2 coyotes with Hornady 45gr SP
Well I managed to put together a few good stands recently. Out of 13 stands I was able to call in 8 coyotes. Got two missed 2 ...the others I was not able to get a shot off. The 45gr Horn SP worked excellent. I mean so good that I can not tell that they were shot at all. The first coyote I got was s...

Re: Is the 204 enough as a full time coyote gun.
Its all about bullet selection. I purchased my 204 almost two yrs ago after alot of research. I wanted to use the factory offerings. Started with Win 34 JHP. They worked good except if you hit big bones...like the one I shot too far back in the hip...ran away! I then went to 32 gr Vmax. They worked ...

Re: The 204um Challenge Winner's Circle
Well here goes my two cents. I shot in the factory/factory portion of the competition again this time round. I presently do not reload as I have no equipment (and time is of a premium with 3 young children) but one day I certainly will. My rifle is a CZ American that I purchased in May of 2007. It c...

Re: Ooops, I blew it!
Do not sweat it. I speak for the vast majority on here that will honestly say that its not about the prizes nor winning but rather being able to share in the shooting sports.
I hope that you were able to participate in this past postal shoot if not I hope that you are able the next time out.

Hornady 45 gr SP
Well, I thought I would give everybody a brief rundown on these factory fodder. The first group measured 0.7" @100 yds and the best group thereafter measured 0.6" @100yds. These thing can really shoot. I plan to use these this winter for any coyote that crosses my path. What I really was s...

Re: 204um Challenge News
Well, finished with the 204um Challenge. My first group was really good. I think I got excited, should of taken my time and let the gun cool off more than I did cause I sure did after that! Oh well its always a blast to shoot in these.
