Re: IMR 4895 vs. H4895 in the .204
In the case of the 32 gr bullet, the Hodgdon online data site shows the same load for both the IMR and H versions of 4895: 29gr Compressed load. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp For the 35gr and 40 gr there's a tenth difference..... I'm not saying they're interchangeable....just sayin' wha...

Re: What load to start with for Rem SPS Varmint
My 204's are a Ruger M77VT and a Rem 700 LVSF...... I agree the 32gr bullets are the place to start for your purposes......probably begin with the Sierra BK's or Nosler BT's..... I've had excellent results with the 32gr bullets using IMR8208.....the new powder from Hodgdon/IMR.....the best groups be...

Re: what scope?
I'm afraid that it's still largely true that you most often get what you pay for.....I'd stay away from the Banner or Cabelas Pine Ridge scopes. Take a look at the Bushnell 3200 or 4200 line of scopes.....Natchez Shooters has been having a clearance on them. Also, the Burris Fullfield scopes offers ...

Re: please explain twists for me
I don't believe the weight of the bullet has anything to do with it...other than the fact that in a given diameter longer bullets will generally weigh more. The Greenhill formula developed in the 19th century for determining optimum twist rate for bullets does not include "weight" in the c...
