Re: Hunting with a Remington700 VTR 204 ruger
Welcome! It seems to me that the .204 is at its best with small varmints and predators such as coyotes, fox and bobcats for example. Can it kill a wild hog or deer? Sure, but that doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job. In some states, and LA is one, it's illegal to take deer with less than a ....

Re: Some smut!
Same question here, Bowshot.......no flame, just questions. Maybe I've become used to the coarse level of discourse in our modern world, and haven't noticed what you're talking about. Or perhaps we may not agree on the definition of "smut." If there's something specific that you have mind,...

Re: Scales...Whats are we using?
For most rifle cartridges I use the RCBS 1500 Chargemaster, but for handguns and some small rifle calibers I've got a digital scale I bought from BrianEnos.com....German made, excellent quality and consistency....price is $135. I've owned the 10-10 scale, and a couple of less inexpensive digitals, b...

Re: barrel length
I've got a Ruger with a 26" and a Rem 700 with a 24", and had my DPMS .204 cut down from 24" to 20"......I haven't checked the velocity, but have noticed no diminution of the accuracy at all. It makes a much handier AR rifle for predators......

First Predator Kill Hunting On My Own
I’ve hunted coyotes a few times here in N. Louisiana with no success, and have been out twice to hunt with a guide named Tony Tebbe out of the Lovington NM area. I’ve killed 8 coyotes hunting with Tony, and we won’t dwell on how many SHOULD have been dead! We don’t have much in the way of pub...

Re: How much do you pay?
Gunstores around here charge $40 to $50....my gunsmith, who's 85 miles away charges me $10. I just pick up guns when I'm dropping off or picking up firearms with him....I'm retired, so I don't mind the travel.

Caliber for Coyotes
So far I've killed coyotes with a .204 Ruger and a .223, and have a new .17 Rem upper I'm setting up for hunting them. I'm also curious if anyone here has used their .20 Vartarg on coyotes, and if so which bullet, and with what results? I've got quite a few rounds loaded up with 32 gr Nosler BT's an...
