And the magic .017 was derived from? How would this differ from .010"?
Just asking as I have worked up a batch of test loads for my 22-250 and am running at .010" shy using the Hornady Lock-n load comparator device.
Sounds like the Cooper is much better, but still a bit on the long side.

Re: My New 204 Meets Skippy Part I
Rick,
Do the Coopers more closely match your reamer specs or are they "way out there" to the lands like most others?

Re: I'm not gonna complain, but....
When I was breaking in my Sako I found a couple of factory loads that worked well initially, but once I pushed some more down the tube that changed. I think it was the Remington 32gr Ballistic that shot a bughole group that never returned. Now 39BK's and 10x are my go to's.

IMR4895 vs H4895
Is ther any REAL difference? I see they are grouped together as to burn rate. Hodgdon groups theirs with their Extreme powders so I'd lean that way.
Load data interchangeable?

Re: Countdown to Memorial Weekend PD shoot in SD
We had pretty good shooting in '07 on this same weekend near Winner (Wood) at a rancher's place. Guy we are connecting with did well up at Mobridge last year same weekend. Dogs (pups) are small, young, and dumb this time of year.

Re: Load info. help
I'd be interested in what you come up with for bullets. I'm looking at doing some loads for my 260Rem. The Nosler 130 Accubonds in Nosler Custom factory ammo have performed stellar on paper for me. I have some Nosler 100gr Ballistic tips that I plan to try.

Countdown to Memorial Weekend PD shoot in SD
After 2 years off we are back in the saddle again! Heading out Friday before Memorial day to Mobridge SD to see what we can do. This is whith a different leader, but I still have my Winner area connection as well for back up. I'm down to 100 22-250 brass to prep and 300 to prime. Then I need to get ...

Re: 204 brass
I did some looking and it seems I have about 95 pcs plus a few unfired Hornady factory ammo.
I also have some Federal and American Ammo brass along with a few winchester plated.
I'll probably keep the Federal for knock around brass depending how it preps.

I've found the Hornady brass to have excessively tight primer pockets.

Re: Load data does not add up
The Sierra 50's must be quite different. They group all 7 of their 55gr bullets together with same load data.

Re: Load data does not add up
One additional question/thought. Are powders generally similar in BTU's, just different burn rates?
In other words would 34.7 grains of N135 produce less heat than say 38.0 grains of H380?

Re: Anybody using Vihtavouri?
IMR, Hodgdon etc $19/lb or $134 for 8# Vihtavouri $25.40/lb or 168/8# So the price gap narrows with the larger containers. I bought heavy at Powder Valley a couple of years back so I have a bunch of this on hand. A soild order of primers and powder helps to offset the hazmat fees. I can't hardly fin...

Re: Load data does not add up
It would be easier to comprehend if the other powders folowed the same bass ackwards trend. More powder behind a heavier projectile just does not compute. Common sense says the smaller bullet can take more powder and the rule seems to apply to other powders listed. The 40gr does then the 50 drops of...

Load data does not add up
OK I am wondering what I am missing here? Typically when the bullet weight goes down the charge rate can go up correct? Looking through the Sierra Edition V at some 22-250 loads I find a couple of powders that show greater max loads with a 55 gr bullet than say a 50. Examples: N135 powder 50gr bulle...
