Re: Rem 700 LV SF in 204

Need an opinion on scope finish. I've been thinking silver/stainless to match the action, but maybe matte to match the stock?

Also, who makes the best rings/bases for this lightweight?

Re: I can't stand it!

Rick,

I'm just curious why you would go to a Varmint reticle when you seem to prefer to use the turrets?

Re: Keyhole help!?!?

Doesn't someone use the 39BK in their factory ammo? That would be an elimination. Maybe it was American Ammo? I know I tried some, and it was slow and loose, but it was a factory loaded 39 BK. On edit: duh, it's the Federal ammo that uses it. I think maybe the American ammo did too, but I'd have to ...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun

TD-M: Sure, starting with a 260 Rem in a Sako would be about perfect for what you're after. You may even want to improve the chamber later on. Also, like jo191145 said, I'd ditch the Mini-14 idea; one of the most inaccurate modern weapons on the market, bar none. I've got a couple of custom 10-22's...

Re: Rem 700 LV SF in 204

Well I'm going to give it a try. A semi-local gun shop found one for me. After rebate I'll have less than $700 in it. Now to decide what glass to put on it. Thinking I'll hand down the Leupold from my Sako and try a Zeiss on the Sako...

Not sure what to think of the blind box magazine...

For those out of the loop, watch the TV Land schedule for the Jerk to come around. It may even be this week Friday.

Re: Nosler volume 6

When my wife brought me the No. 6 Manual home from work, I couldn't wait to pop open the plastic wrapper to see if the 204 Ruger was indeed included........after a mental drum roll, I was very plesantly surprised to say to myself "YES!", the 204 IS included, both the 32 and 40 grain bulle...

Re: Almost here!!

We've had a traditional WI winter this year with lots of snow and lots of blow. I don't remember when the last time we had this much snow and blow was. I've been jonesing to spill some guts and hope to do so this weekend. Not sure if I'll get my Ranger back in the woods and I hate to carry 50# of co...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun

OK, I located a new 700 LV SF in 204 spoke for it, and will pick up in the not too distant future. Still waiting to hear on the Sako in 260 Rem.

I figure to hand down my VXIII to the Remmy and then start looking for something better for my Sako 204.

Scope for my Sako-Zeiss, Swaro???

Looking to upgrade the scope on my Sako. The VXIII will likely get handed down to my carry gun. I'm thinking that I would like to go up to a 20x or 24x variable, and something from Swarovski or Zeiss. The VXIII is OK, but I get eye fatigue quickly and things blur. The VX II on my old Howa seemed to ...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun

OK, here's my present train of thought: 1) Tikka T3 Lite stainless for my walking, plinking toy. Inexpensive, lightweight and shoots well. My preference is 204 Ruger, but they don't offer that in the states so I may go .223. Then again, I have 22-250 dies and brass. If the Sako Finnlight was availab...

Re: Rem 700 LV SF in 204

Does Tikka do a 204? I haven't seen one yet. Sako has a new lower priced unit coming also, but Beretta is so darn poor about making the line available... http://www.sakoa7.net Nothing smaller than 22-250 though. On edit: I see the Tikka Varmint in 204, but not the Lite stainless. Been hoping for a r...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun

Maybe the LVSF II is in the works??? What is Acoceek? One thing that I did see is that Sako lists most all models as available with the set trigger in the brochure at sako.fi Any idea if it's possible/practical to have someone in Europe bring one over and leave it here? Not sure about Intl transport...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun

The XR would be more a BR use and the LVSF would be the carry.

I have a local shop searching for the LVSF in 204. They are discontinued and selling for around $700 less $50 rebate FYI.
