Re: Timney Triggers ?
I had one installed on a Howa 1500. Best thing I could have done to it. Original trigger was a major POS. I believe the trigger in question is for a Weatherby Vanguard which while it uses the same action is NOT a Howa. Anyhow, I knew going into it that it needed slight alteration and it worked great.

Re: Electronic calls
Had the Scorpion out Sunday to familiarize myself with it. There have been very few tracks in the snow here lately. Not hardly any squirrels or anything. Just crows, chickadees, nut hatches, and woodpeckers. I just resumed putting out corn and saw a little activity from Turkey and Squirrels. Sunday ...

Re: Bore Guides
Be sure you know what rod you are using as Mike will ask you. Also make sure that it has plenty of length as you can see in Skipper's pic.
I have Lucas guides for all of mine also.

Re: Primer piercing?
Thanks guys, I understand what you are saying. I shot several hundred of these rounds including the one in question last spring/summer. This load was developed in my Sako. My guess is that it was a fluke. Just like I had a ramndom load that needed to be touched off twice and a couple of total dud pr...

Re: 40 grain V-Max and 1-12 twist barrels
There's a discussion at 24hrcampfire.com forums under Ask the gunwriters. The idea is that it starts to take a nose high attitude at extended ranges.

Re: Hornady brass for the .204 - better than Rem or WW?
It's done a couple thousand brass, but works well on all but the Hornady stuff. It just cuts too big a chip to hold back.

Primer piercing?
Looking through my used brass I found one primer that had a pin sticking out of it. Looks almost like a firing pin. Is this what would be a pierced primer? I've shot hundreds of these loads w/o issue, just came across this one. Primer is CCI Magnum

Re: 40 grain V-Max and 1-12 twist barrels
I only tried 50 yds, but I had pretty decent results with the factory Hornady 40's today in my Remington. Encouraging.

No go on my end with the screw. I soaked in thinner, applied more heat than I should have and nothing. It shoots good anyhow...

Re: 700 trigger adjustment
Thanks I'll try that. I'm planning to set up my BR Pivot and see if it shoots decent first.

Rem 700 new/old bolt with lock
My new 700 has the J tool lock in it. I think it's a pretty ingenious device, but am told that it's a part of the lack of smoothness in the action. I'm told that there is some sort of a sleeve that helps take up the friction of the spring and keep the spring straight? Anybody here familiar with this?

Re: Case neck splitting
I'll try that. I've used the Rem Dry lube with decent success on normal pockets. It just seems that the Hornady brass is so far undersize that it takes too much bite and binds. Like a drill bit breaking through. The only way to proceed is to back it off, but it wedges in so tight that I wreck the br...
