Re: Primer change
I stocked up a while back and got 5,000 7-1/2's along with 5,000 Federal 210? large rifle BR and 5,000 CCI BR for large rifle. I'm set for a while as I don't shoot all that much. I have hundreds of the CCI Magnums in small and large to use up. Thanks for clearing up the 7-1/2. I had stopped with 40 ...

Re: Primer change
These were my first primers, and I read the primer comparo showing wall thickness. I forget who, but you know the one. Also availability. They were available locally. Magnum means bigger and bigger is better better right

Primer change
I have my ideal load worked out using 26gr RL 10x under 39SBK and was using CCI magnum primers. I still have plenty of the magnums left, but was wanting to try the Remington 7-1/2's. My loads previously have worked very well, but I have seen some of the primers get a bit hairy. My thoughts are that ...

U bet
I pack a Tipton Range Box with supplies and also pack my cleaning rods. Tried a bore snake and while better than nothing, they just don't seem to come close to the rod and brush/jag method...

Re: Reticle Pros and Cons
As I understand though the VHR varies as you change the power of the scope correct? I've done well with mine, but at 14x it's easy to keep maxed.
Intrigued with target turrets and may just have to try some time.

Re: Realistic rounds per hour count
Thanks guys. I made it out in 2007 and went through about 2-300 rds on Saturday and Sunday the weather sucked so we did not shoot much. This was starting late morning Saturday as we had made new contact that same morning. In 2008 my Dad was sick and winding down and 2009 we were in the middle of bui...

Re: Realistic rounds per hour count
Sorry I was thinking 204 since it was a 204 forum.
Just wanted to put into perspective how much ammo a guy would REALLY need for a trip.

Re: Realistic rounds per hour count
Lets say you had one gun and unlimited targets. A theoretical one gun perfect day. How much can a barrel take before you start premature wear issues?
I'm thinking a shot per minute would be pushing it. Devastation to most any larger caliber I'm sure.

Re: Help me find my Cooper
Now you guys have me thinking...
I actually like the laminate wood, but teh Cooper looks pretty bland. I have 2 Sako's like RIO's and really like the look of them. On the fence about purchasing a 3rd and rebarrelling to 260 or 260AI or simply buying a Cooper or custom.

Re: Forster die issues
Sorry, yes I have the Co-ax press. Smooth as glass and I love it. Rick mentioned the potential for pulling the necks crooked. If my die has been off/bent stem this could explain the Howa accuracy issue. Then again, the bending seemed to be confined to below the sizing ball. So from here I suppose I ...

Re: Pdog/Varmint Scope
I have a VXIII 4.5-14 w/varmint reticle on my Sako. Nice scope Nikon Monarch 4-16 on my Rem LVSF 204 Also nice scope for less $ than the Leupy Swaro Z5 3-18 w/BRX reticle on my Sako 260 VERY nice glass I'm on the fence as to what to put on my Sako 22-250. I'm thinking that I'll move the Nikon over t...

Realistic rounds per hour count
Curious what you feel the max rounds per hour would be on a relatively heavy barrelled varmint rig on say a 70° day?
I'm talking treating your gun with the respect deserved not just shoot it out

Re: Second Heavy Varmint rifle 22-250 or 6.5mm
So what is the go-to bullet for the 22-250 with a 1:14 twist? My Howa never shot all that well. Likely the gun, but could also be related to die issues that I have had. I've had such darn good luck with the Sierra BK in the 204, but does that hold true to the '250? Can I get away with a 60gr in the ...

Re: Forster die issues
Spoke with Forster and I'm sending the die and 5 pcs of brass in to them to test/repair. I really think their shell holder could do a better job of holding the brass from rocking for and aft. My guess is that this is a multi part issue: 1) the brass is allowed to rock and should not be 2) the origin...

Forster die issues
A couple years back I had problems with my Forster Full Length sizer die and sent in my shell holder and 22-250 FLS die to Forster. I was having problems with denting the rim as the brass tipped in the shell holder. I was also having difficulty with breaking decapping pins as things just would not l...
