Can anyone tell me how far from the barrel to set up the chrono?

I just got the Tikka in a stainless heavy barrel 204 with synthetic stock. It was an exclusive for Scheels last year. I havent seen one anywhere else. I havent had time to shoot much yet, 12 rounds to sight in scope and 1 group. So far 32 grain had one group cloverleaf.

I have the T3 lite in 243 win. and it is a shooter. Great groups, and it will shoot 70 grainers in the same place as 95gr. Trigger is good. Just got another Tikka in 204, hope it is just as good.

DPMS may be off the shelf. Local dealer took the price from 1299 up to 1700 this week, and wont budge. Has anyone used the Remington R-15-VTR? A bargain at 1099

I am looking at a DPMS in 204. Does anyone have experience with this type of gun? Any suggestions?

I just used my Nikon 4-16 w/sf for the first time today. I have had a buck master but havent played with the BDC. I found it to be very helpful with the .204. You can zero in and be absolutely confident about your hold over if you know your distance. I zeroed at 225, took a couple of 1gal. milk jugs...
