Re: Arctic Grizzly
BTW, I have an outstanding .375 H&H, and was tempted to bring it, but... Went with the lighter, handier rifle that I handle well and have more experience with. Last fall I shot pronghorn, mule deer, elk and black bear with the same rifle. Though I did use a lighter 165 grain bullet for those hun...

Re: Arctic Grizzly
Sorry guys - I should have provided more info. Here's a condensed version, with some photos. Drove from my home in Washington State to Fairbanks Alaska. I'd been to Alaska quite a few times, but I'd always flown there, and had always been in coastal areas. I figured there was a LOT of great country ...

Re: 2016, good season!
Thanks Ray! I'm still so happy about last season... Dang, it was pretty special. Not just because of the success, but because I spent a lot of time afield, with some great people. Family and friends. Managed to cram all the meat into our freezer, and the chest freezer under the garage fridge... Grad...

Varmint rifles to the range today!
And with a new shooter! My friend, who took to shooting with me about a year and a half ago, and I went to the range this morning. It was a little chillier than it appeared, but we shot three different rifles at 100, 200 and 300 yards; a .17 HMR (only to 200 yds), a .204 Ruger, and my old SWAT rifle...

Re: Nosler accubond lr
If it's deforming the bullet. You might be able to either modify the seating die yourself, or get one made for that particular bullet. Send the bullet to the die maker, and ask them to make a seating die specifically for that bullet. They should be able to do that.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k129/GuyMiner/hunting%20photos/elk%202016%20smile_zpsvviqolpo.jpg Took a nice sized cow elk at 338 yards with one hit from the .30-06 again. This has been a very successful big game season! Elk, bear, mule deer and pronghorn... Wow... I'm grateful, very, very grate...

Re: 2016, good season!
Thanks Rick!
Life got in the way, and I haven't been out for elk YET, but soon....
Might need a new freezer if I connect....
Ya, the .30-06 and I are still getting along just fine.
Regards, Guy

2016 Washington Black Bear
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k129/GuyMiner/hunting%20photos/P1011423_zpsarv8zwhk.jpg Yesterday, 325 yards from sitting, no rest. Used my .30-06 Rem 700 CDL with an old 2-7x Redfield. Ammo was handloaded 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip over H4350 for abotu 2900 fps. One shot and done. I like that. ...

Re-barrel the CZ 527 ?
Not that my rifle's barrel is wearing out quickly. I haven't actually used my .204 as much as anticipated, so the barrel is still hanging in there nicely. When that time rolls around, are there any special considerations to re-barreling a CZ 527 rifle? I was thinking a stainless, cut-rifle, same len...

Re: Rock Chucks...
Thanks Bill. I was walking this morning, trying to get photos of the osprey above the Columbia River and stumbled across this little rascal.
No-shooting area, and I wasn't so inclined anyway. So, he's immortalized via digi-camera!

Re: Wyoming 2014
Thanks guys. It was a good hunt and I thoroughly enjoyed.
Haven't done much with the .204 Ruger the past year or two, but it's clean, lubed, and ready to go to work anytime I get enthused about using it for coyotes or doing some varmint shooting!
Regards, Guy

Wyoming 2014
Wyoming was good to me again. Tagged a good mule deer buck and a decent pronghorn. Both with the .25-06 Rem 700 and 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k129/GuyMiner/hunting%20photos/IMG_8595_zps2322bdfc.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k129/GuyMiner/hunting%20photos/...
