Re: Waiting on the draws...

Nothing for Washington. Still waiting on Wyoming. Plan on hunting mule deer, elk and black bear here in Washington with my regular tags. That's not all bad! :D My teenage son drew a late-season doe tag for our favorite mule-deer hunting area, so if he doesn't tag a buck in the regular season, he get...

Re: Rifle bought, now help with scope

Hard to beat a Leupold for the price, quality and service... I've got one 3-9x that I'm still using, got it in 1974. It's never had a problem... Targets, varmints, predators and mule deer have all met their final bullet via the crosshairs of that old scope... :D A couple of scopes that I have had to...

Re: Retical Radar (Field Pics)

Great photos of Camp Vermin! :D Complete with flag pole, All-American 4x4 truck (probably full of coolers w/icy drinks & lunch), sunshades, varmint shooting benches, and awesome rifles! Only in America! Had an eastern guy all over me once about how much effort and money is put into a rifle for s...

Re: Rifle bought, now help with scope

Another U.S. made scope is the very high end scope line produced by U.S. Optics... Amazing quality. I've been pleased to use one, but haven't ever come up with the cash for the purchase... Truly world class scopes: http://www.usoptics.com/ Probably not what you're looking for on the typical varmint ...

Re: We are fortunate...

Hunting with my sons is the best... Well, it's right up there with hunting with Dad, who is in his 80's now, but still gets out for pheasant and other upland birds. He's an amazing wing shot, still.

Re: We are fortunate...

I'd think 25,000 acres in Wyoming likely holds a couple of pronghorn! :D Unofficial draw results are avail from Washington now. Looks like I was skunked on my "special" tags, but I'll still be hunting bear, mule deer and elk. My son appears to have drawn a doe tag, which is a late season h...

We are fortunate...

This fall, a working stiff & family man like me... I've got firm plans to hunt black bear, elk and mule deer here in my home state of Washington. I've also applied to hunt mule deer in Wyoming. I've also put in for the once-in-a-lifetime Washington tags for moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat...

Re: looking for a match rifle

Thanks Jim. Yes, injuries are healed now - no problem, but they took me out of rifle shooting for a bit... Ugh. M14... Yes, that's tough! I earned my HM with a .308 Model 70 bolt rifle... :D I know - that's cheating... But it worked really well! :D Dunno when I'm going to shoot another match. Pretty...

Re: looking for a match rifle

Jim, mostly I shoot at the North Central Washington gun club, Wenatchee, WA. Haven't made many matches recently - first due to injuries and the healing up process - then a change to my work schedule. Seems I'm now working most weekends, and unable to shoot most of our local matches. I have shot at R...

Re: Thank you...Veterans

Many folks forget what Memorial Day is all about. It's good, between the beer & BBQ, races to watch, friends to laugh with - good to remember those who gave their lives for us. There's more than a few veterans on this board. My appreciation and thanks to all of them.

Re: Has anybody tried this?

I know BR competitors who often switch out the barrels on their Rem 700 based rifles. The guys I know all seem to have the recoil lug pinned in place. Once their barrels are chambered and set up for it, they actually twist them on by hand, and "seat" them in place with a snap of the wrist....

Re: Winchester Brass

Most bulk brass is a little beat up. Just run it through your sizing die and the case mouths will be nice and round! A little brass prep can go a long way towards better accuracy, it just depends on how much time & effort a shooter wants to put into his ammo. Sometimes I go nuts and do a lot of ...
