Re: Case Trimmers

Thanks for the info on the mic. I found it at Sinclairs. $91 seems a bit steep but if you change calibers a lot, it's probably worth it. Does anyone use a base for their Wilson? I clamp mine in a small vise clamped to my bench. The mount looks like a handy addition as well. The base of my trimmer on...

Re: Case Trimmers

I too have a Lyman and a Wilson. The Wilson takes a couple of minutes to get used to but after that it's off to the races. Very accurate.

Silverfox, where did you get the mic attachment? I am loading for three different rifles and that thing would be downright handy!

Re: Here we go again.

Will the price hike affect powder and primers as well?

Re: Ebay tightens restrictions!

Here's the bulk of my email to Kneejerk Halprin. Mr. Halprin, I find your recent decision to severely limit the sale of “firearms-related” items to be without merit. Last year a plane crash in Kentucky killed 49 people yet you continue to sell aircraft (207 items). Over 900 people died i...

Re: PLEASE be careful!

When we were in high school, I loaded a .240 Weatherby mag. for my brother that had no powder. The bullet lodged just far enough in the barrel so that the next round couldn't be chambered. We got very lucky. The only time I have problems now is when I get interrupted while loading.

It's not bragging if you can back it up. Nice shooting! Let us know how Nationals go.

There are two "seasoned" shooters here who use grape jelly smeared on the targets to attract flies and then try to shoot them with .22's at 50 yards. They have a great time trying.

Here's an online (Excel) calculator that will help you. You'll need to know the cost of all your components obviously.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to have to find a "Steve" up here somewhere. I can't wait for all the parts to get here.

Question for barrel swappers

In researching how to do a Savage barrel swap, I've seen several people mention "remote firing" of the completed rifle. Do any of you do that? I've done it with an old Ithaca .22, tied it in a fork of a tree and used a string to pull the trigger. I don't have a big sled rest that can handl...

What does one use after cleaning with Sweets? Hoppe's 9 followed by Mil-Tec?

Well, we found a 12FV in .223 locally. That's a lot of barrel on that rifle! Since this rifle is primarily for my son, I think we'd better take a look at the CZ. The extra pound a half for the FV and almost three pounds for the VLP makes a big difference when you're only 11.

Thanks for the replies! We're going to take a 90 minute drive tomorrow to look at the Savages. The VLP might fit his face better anyway. The FV would offer the opportunity to do my first pillar/bedding job. I'll post pics of what ever we decide on and his targets as soon as I can.

Thanks again!

Looking for a .204, please help us decide

I'm in the market for a .204 for my 11 y/o (and me too!). I'm trying to decide between a Savage 12FV and a subsequent stock upgrade, a Savage 12 VLP, and a CZ 527 Varmint. We won't be carrying the rifle much, mostly bench and pdogs on our annual trip home to SD. We reload for several rifles and pist...
