Re: B&C stocks
Bought a Medalist for my Vanguard .243 Varminter, liked it so much I got another for my Howa 7mmMag. Saw definite accuracy improvement in both and they were not bad to begin with. I'm sure you will be happy with yours.

Re: Ruger M77 Hawkeye
I've had some bad experiences with Savages but that's not to say I wouldn't buy another. On the other hand I've had two Rugers, the latest a 7mm08 M77 light weight in target gray with the L6 trigger and it's sweet.

Re: Hello, am new here, and looking for opinions.
The last two Savages I've had were disappointing to say the least. I'm going to say it was just rotten luck. The last was a Model 16 in .204 which has been back to the factory twice. After a new barrel it is now producing acceptable groups. I know people who love them and people who don't. You may b...

The B&C Medalist also has a machined aluminum bedding block. Same one found on some of the Weatherby rifles. I like them so much I've changed out several Vanguards.

Re: Upgrade to digital scale system
I have the new model Pact and found it to be just as accurate as my beam scale. It has to be on a stable surface ( I use our granite counter top) and no air currents. Yes, certain powders can be slightly cumbersome.

Re: 204 vs cougar
Has anyone here seen results of the 204 on cougar. Its seems to have alot of energy even enough at 2oo yards.Id only take an ideal shot meaning broadside and most shots here would be under 100 yards.I watched my dad kill one years ago with his 221fireball at about 80 yards.Surely the 204 has more en...

Re: 204 vs cougar
For years the preferred side arm for use when hunting cougars with dogs (where its still legal) has been/is a 22 magnum pistol. -BCB You must have some small cats in Texas. :chin: We can use dogs in Arizona and I don't know of anyone using a .22 of any persuasion in bringing them down. Most here ar...

Re: whats beter for a gun
I've had bad luck with two Savages so I would go with the Howa which I have three with no problems. Thats me. At our gun club, some have great guns out of the box and some don't. Choose what's comfortable for you.

Re: Nikon Monarch or Leupold VX-II
Well I think I've owned Leupold's for a lot longer than most on this forum. They make a good scope. However, I happen to think in some cases the Monarch is a better buy, and I happen to like the BDC reticle for some applications. If I need to upgrade then I'll go for the Zeiss.

Re: Case head expansion problem?
Huh? Are you talking about measuring the O.D. of the rim or the expansion of the case just forward of the rim after firing? Cases from my Savage expand .005", while those from my Contender,
.006".
.006".
