When to anneal??
I am just in the process of prepping about 700 brass cases so I will be ready for load testing when my new Shilen barrel gets here. Some of the brass has probably 5-6 firings, others only twice. I plan to anneal all of them at this time so I have a common starting point from which to keep records of...

Re: Barrel Harmonics
Check out Varmint Al's site, there is a section on barrel harmonics that is very good. http://www.varmintal.com/amode.htm He also goes into more detail about adding a tuner to the muzzle end of a barrel. http://www.varmintal.com/atune.htm The software analysis is a real help to understanding some of...

Re: CNN/HNN news on rifle ban
Help out with the NRA boys!!
I am a Canadian and I donate a few bucks every time I order from Brownells or Sinclair Int'l.
I consider it insurance for the day when I may have to flee my homeland as our gun laws get more and more draconian.

Re: Testing New Loads
I have access to a 50 yard indoor range on my way home from work. Its convenient to use, and no wind is really nice, but nearly all the groups end up being to small to objectively interpret. However the practice in a controlled environment enabled me to improve my shooting by trying different hold a...

Re: Top barrell makers??
I kinda know how you feel being a Canadian and seeing all the goodies avaliable to our friends to the south, but being limited by the border and the vague laws concerning importing and exporting gun parts. I began the barrel quest a several years ago when I first learned I could "wear out"...

Re: calling pdogs
To be honest I am not familiar with habits of pdogs, that being said I like to have a call when I go shooting our local varmint, the Richardsons Ground Squirrel, or as know locally "gopher". The basic 'vocabulary' of Richardson's ground squirrels consists of a variety of squeals, chirps, c...

Re: New to Neck Turning
I have got the equipment on order from Sinclairs, the neck turning attachment was relatively inexpensive so I added that to the list. I got the tool for measuring cases for runout and neck thickness and so on, I will go through my brass and see what is up, so far I only checked a couple for neck thi...

Re: Reloading equipment confusion
Just be aware of the fact that Canadian suppliers are often back ordered and it may be months before the items arrive. I just stopped in at Russels here in Calgary to buy buy an item worth $63.99 CDN. They didn't have it and could not give any date as to when stock would arrive, they actually advise...

Re: Case trimmers
I had been going over the same question the past few months, I plan to upgrade my reloading equipment and a trimmer was high on the list. I just put in a order for a Forester from Russel Sports here in Calgary, they had the pilots required for .20 cal. I also plan to begin neck turning and the Fores...

Neck sizing dies?
I am in the process of getting the parts needed to take my reloading to the next level, not benchrest quality but enough to hopefully extend my varmint shooting ranges. I have plans to get concentricity gauge, and the tools required to neck turn my brass among other things. I also want to get a neck...

Re: Pac-Nor 1 in 9 twist .204 project
How goes border issues? I am in Canada as well so while I may not follow all of the technical aspects in this thread I am curious as to how the cross border dealings work. With a long wait time on a Savage prefit from Shilen from a local guy ($425 Cdn) I have been considering buying one so that when...

Re: Reloading equipment confusion
There are others who are far more experienced in the reloading department than me, but I too am in Canada and know what its like to see US available products that are a real hassle to get shipped here. I did order my dies directly from Hornady and they came no problem (this was when the 204 was new ...

Re: 1911 toughness
I had a fellow on another forum tell me a bit more about it, the serial no. indicates the frame is a Colt item (1942), the slide is labeled Remington, hammer, trigger, grips and slide stop are from another makes or years of manufacture. I guess they refurbish them at the armory with what is on hand ...

1911 toughness
Just took my 1911 to the range today, first time I have had it out to shoot in probably 6 years or more. (Don't ask about all the red tape we have up here in Canada for owning and shooting handguns) I had lots of "Fail to Fire" from the get go, it did get better as I put more rounds throug...

Re: New to Neck Turning
I have been considering getting into this but I have a factory barrel, will neck turning be of any benefit to me or is this a step best reserved for those who have a custom barrel with a tighter neck? To be honest I haven't measured for consitency in the thickness of the Hornady brass that I use, bu...
