Re: 35 bergers for yots

I just finished load testing and after a month of trying different powders and OAL's, I decided 27.5 grains of H4895 under a 35 Berger is the most consistant load produced. Benchmark was a close second. I hope to make a stand or two in the morning with hopes of first blood on my new rifle.

At first I wasn't impresses with Reloader 10. Once I backed by OAL further from the lands I've found a very consistant sub-sub load. I was also impressed with Benchmark.

Re: IMR 4895?

Thanks for the replies. Greystone, I'm curious what bullets/weights your shooting with the IMR. I was having some good results with BL-C until I dumped my powder trickler full of Benchmark into the full can :wall: I had a full can of IMR stored and figured I'd try some under the 39 BK and was impres...

IMR 4895?

I had a can left over from my PPC days and tried a load with the 39BK and was pleased with the group it produced. I only shot five rounds for a test so more loads to follow. The question I have is why isn't this powder used more often? Before I started loading for my 204 I read all the pages in this...

Re: New 204 go factory or custom

I just finished the rebarrel route with two of my Remington actions. I chose two different smiths, both reputable and the results show. Both rifles are extremely accurate with first load recipe. I dropped about a grand each with barrel and blueprint so it's not too far a Cooper buy. I should add tha...

Re: 204 build completed.

Stevie-ray, Sorry, I wished I saved the barrel for someone on this forum but she's gone. Besides, thats the reason I had it removed. I had the same groups as you. I made it out to the range today. Last month Greg Tannel shipped a complete 300wm build for me and I shot the first group with it today f...

Re: 204 build completed.

Thanks for the advice. I think I determined the ogive to lands. I slightly dented the case mouth and recieved three consistant measurements. Time to start throwing some Benchmark. I'll seat .020 off the lands for a start.

Thanks, Wade

Re: 204 build completed.

Thanks Rick,

After I messed up the modified case I did hit a fired case with a dremel. I looked her over and just didn't feel right putting that hacked up case in my new chamber ;) Good point on calling Clay, I guess after a thousand questions already one more wont hurt.

Thanks,

Wade

Re: 204 build completed.

Thanks, I'm going to find out regarding jump or not. The 204 modified case didn't quite fit the chamber and I screwed it up trying to turn the neck. I'll just load OAL from load data link and hope for the best til I get a new case built. I know there are other methods to measure ogive to lands but I...

204 build completed. range pics

I purchased a Rem LVSF over a year ago. I wasn't impressed with the factory ammo accuracy and decided if I was going to reload I would do it right. I ordered a Lilja 3 groove and shipped everything to Clay Spencer. A full blueprint and bed job was completed as well as a few other details. I just fin...

Re: Help me choose a rifle in .204

I owned a Sako Varmint S/S lam in 22PPC. I regret sellign it but it was way too heavy for a carry rifle. Unless your shooting from a bench i'd look at other options. I'm athletic build but the Sako would wear on me after a hike. I ended up selling it and buying a Rem LVSF and wasn't pleased with it'...

Re: Les Baer AR-15 fun!!

I had the opportunity to shoot the same rifle. Les Baer has to be the nicest AR platform made. A lil heavy but they are a work of art. My safe has an opening for one in the future.

Re: 204 Cleaning Questions

The bore snake is used by a number of guys participating in tactical shoots. Run the snake through the bore and they're ready to go. They don't need to worry about shooting a clean barrel as your not allowed foulers. These guys are shooting 3-4k dollar guns and hitting targets at crazy distances. I ...

Brake on new build

My 204 project is almost complete. I'd like to know what brakes you guys are running. I had problems seeing impacts with the original LVSF. I have a Vais on my 300WM but would like something without bottom ports if possible. Pics would be nice too.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Remington LVSF needs trigger lighted! anybody know how?

I send all my triggers to Neil Jones Custom Products. The best $65.00 you will ever spend. They are better than a Basix and very close to a Jewell when completed. If your not familiar with the assembly, it's easy. Just pay attention to the bolt stop.
