Posting graphic photos?

I went to another pred./varmint forum this morning and did some reading. It is one that has had it's link posted on another thread recently.(220 v.204) remember? Anyway, one under the title of varmint hunting there is a post about graphic pics. From what I could take from it is "keep it as clea...

Re: How sooped up can you load a 30-30?

Why are you necking down the 375 win.? Is regular 30-30 brass not strong enough. From what I've read, the Encore pistol load would be pretty good if shot from a 26-28" barrel.

I don't know if this is an urban legend or if it's true

Anyone heard about using a dog whistle to get groundhogs to pop out of their dens? I heard about it years ago, but never put much stock in it.

Re: CZ or savage

You could save some money and get the mod.16. It has the stainless barrel and is quite weather resistant. just wrap some camo tape around the barrel when pred. hunting.

Re: 204 and the three "4895 " powders

I shoot the H4895 in my 04 and my best group is .112". But it looks like the AA powder velocities are very close together. I don't know a lot, but it seems the consistency of the AA powder will give you the best grouping.

Re: Varmint Hunting - What put the bug in you?

I love to hunt/shoot stuff  And I also use the varmint hunting access to ask to deer hunt later. My 1st groudhog was shot at about 200yards with a 270 and Sierra 90gr.HPs(34-3500fps if I remember correctly). The scope of the day was a Trashco World Class 3-9x40. I was 16.

Re: 204 ruger vs 220 swift vs 22-250?

Lets just look through our rose colored glasses and keep drinking our Kool-Aid. Like I said earlier. I HAD a 220 and HAVE a 204. The 22-250 and Swift do have a place. But for me, the 204 is all I want or need(for now). The comparison between the Swift and 204R for most people is like .308 vs. .300wi...

Muzzle brake on .22 cal. rifles?

Does anyone do this? Maybe to keep rifle jump to minimum while busting PDs.

Re: Accuracy ?

It depends mostly on the barrel itself. If you read other posts on this forum you will see different shot numbers. Me personally, I like to clean my guns every time I go out. Living in the east, I don't get to melt my barrel an PDs like folks out west. But I make sure my barrel is cleaned every time...

Re: CZ or savage

I have a savage 12. Shoots like like heaven, looks like heck. Looks aside, you can't beat savage for accuracy at almost any price. But I do like the CZ's varmint barrel. It is made heavy enough to do bench work, and light enough to walk with. But if you are just shooting yotes and groundhogs, a hot ...

Re: New Scope

You could go with a lower power variable. Leupold has a vxiii 3.5-10x40. Since you said most shots are only out to 200yds., you really don't need to dial in bullet drop. But you can have them put on an elevation turret at Leupold if you want.

Re: What type of gun is this what are they to buy new?

Depending on how long it has been for sale, I would ask $600. If it has just been advertised, I would ask $600 and he keeps scope. You can go to legacysports.com and get a Nikko 6-24 for $220. In this time of economic trouble, I don't think he will want to turn down any solid offer. :) BTW, if you d...

Re: What type of gun is this what are they to buy new?

It looks like the mod. 12 low profile. As far if it is worth what they are selling it for. How much are they selling it for? If you get it, get a new scope for it.That gun will out shoot that scope for sure. The bi-pod does look like a Harris. As far as scopes go, at the low end of price$$ the Nikko...
