Re: Help Picking A SAVAGE
I have a savage 12 FV single shot. Two years ago I paid $400 for the gun new. Another $290 for a Bushnell 3200 5-15. I use a set of Lee 204 dies, and best group to date is .114". If I had $1500 to play with, "wow"! I would have put a Lupy 6.5-20 w/30mm tube on it for sure. I will say ...

Barrel length
At what length does a barrel stop benefiting a caliber(such as 204, 223,etc)? Are those 28" pipes for the T/C prohunter really worth it.

Re: What do you look for in a custom rifle.
The one thing that worries me above all else is barrel condition on a used gun. Not so much with bigger calibers, but the varmint stuff for sure.

Re: 204 Ruger VS 22-250
I read on this forum a few weeks ago about Berger making a 55grain pill for 204. So if you were thinking about putting a faster twist barrel on a 204, that's the deal.

Re: 17M2 Info...
Get the HMR. Mine will shoot under, WELL under MOA at 100yds. Mine is a Marlin that I got for right at $200. I've never had a 22mag, but the HMR is a real eye opener as far as rimfires go. BTW, a squirrel head shot at 20 yds is a "blast".

Re: Encore 204 Ruger
Mine shot the 32 grainers better than the heavier stuff. Try some H4895 as well.

Try H4895 with your 39 grain sierras.

Re: 204 number 1
Please don't cut up a #1. If you really want a single shot, then get a t/c encore. I had a #1 and it looked great. But as they say about them. You either get one that shoots, or you don't. Plus, the way the action that is on the #1 it makes the scope set farther away from your eye. The encore with t...

Re: advice on Thompson Encore
I like the Encore as a varmint gun. I was getting sub 1/2moa with my 204 barrel. One thing I did do was spend some money on a trigger job and getting a locking hinge pin instead of the current one that can move. I do not have a varmint caliber for it currently, but I am looking at either a 223AI or ...

Re: help me decide
I have a Marlin in 17 HMR and love it. It shoots under an inch at 100 yards. And you don't have to break the bank to get one.

Re: Should I try the 32 grain SBKs?
That's kind of it. I was just looking for something a little faster. There are some guys here that shoot both(32and39). But I don't want to waste money and time if they aren't as accurate as the 39 grainers.

Re: Moose Kisses.....
Are moose that friendly, or has she been a family "pet" since being a calf? I am thinking because of her size, there may be less fear in her. Quite unlike wild deer.

Should I try the 32 grain SBKs?
Right now I shoot the 39 grain SBKs. Mostly they group in the low .2s and best to date is .114. I can't get Hornady 32 grainers to shoot that good. Would the 32 SBKs similar to the Hornadys? Has anyone shot both to compare the two?

Re: Scales not the same?
If you can't see a difference when shooting at paper or fur who cares. I did have a Hornady beam scale that was really fudged up. But it was off by well over .1 grain.
