Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
I shot it yesterday and I am pleased with it. It shot well with no problems. I was hitting center mass and head shots at 20 yds. I know that does not sound like much but if you shot the Sigma you would love it. BTW it's a compact gun which makes it even better.

Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
I am really excited. I can't wait to shoot it. It's gotta be better than that Sigma I had.

Re: Hunt wish list?
Here on the east coast, we don't have as many different targets as the folks out west. My wish list would consist of Texas- whitetail WAY out there, feral hogs, and predators Montana- mule deer and pronhorn. again WAY out there. Africa- all planes game, cape buff., hippo, maybe lion Alaska- caribou ...

Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
Like I said, I really liked the SR9C. When I went to the gun shop today I had a decision to make. I ended up chooseing the Ruger. It was a matter of gun over caliber. I think I made a good choice. The gun really feels good in my hand, not blocky like many of the new guns out today. I know the 40s&am...

Any opinions about the XD compact.
I really like the SR9C by Ruger. But I want a 40S&W because it will be for personal protection(C&C).

Took a big doe on turkey day.
Other than butterflying the tender loin, I plan on making sausage and jerky from the rest. This will be the first time making sausage and need some suggestions. How much and what fat(beef or pork) do I use. I was thinking of mixing 1lb. of regular sausage with 2lb of ground venison. As far as season...

Re: Sierra Bullet Problem
I have never measured ogive length. I also shoot sierra 39 grainers. All I know is mine shoots tiny little holes. I don't ask questions when it's working.

Re: Availability of Components
I don't like the phrase "Mexican drug war". We should use "Southern Border Contengancy Operation". :D Besides, wouldn't it be better to give Mexicans their own 2nd amendment instead of punishing us for ours. Maybe if their own citizenship took out some of those thugs it would not...

Re: How sooped up can you load a 30-30?
As stated earlier, I would not exceed max loads from my nosler manual(under 30-30 for encore or contender). But was thinking of using some of the high BC 30 cal. bullets out there.

Re: Minimum distance to lands?
Its for a single shot. And I was thinking .010", but was not certain. I was trying a new way(to me) to find COAL. I saw it on you tube from ammo smith.com. Put just enough tension on the neck to hold the bullet in place. Put bullet in case and place in chamber. Make sure COAL is too long. When ...

Re: search is over
I have loaded for two 204's. A T/C and a Savage. The Encore took a little work to get 1/4" groups. But the savage was dead nuts from the get go. If you want a "hard" caliber to try to work up a load, try the 220 Swift .

Minimum distance to lands?
I am going to be working up a load for my 2506. That will probably not be the final measurement, but I need a good starting reference.
