Re: Prairie dog blues
If you decide SW KS call ahead. The Cimarron Grasslands have been hit pretty hard with plague. There are still plenty of pds in WY but you have to get off the highway to see them.

Re: Realistic rounds per hour count
When it comes to high volume pd shooting I got unlimited shooting just about any time I want...weather permitting. Since I am in no hurry and take a more leisurely approach to it than someone who may have traveled many miles my number may seem slow. In fact when I take a new shooter out I don't shoo...

Re: PD Hunters
Personally I don't think there is any one thing you can do with a rifle and ammo that is more fun. Hunting is great and I love it but the shooting part of it is pretty short lived in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Kansas Prairie Dogs
This year we are heading for Kansas to shoot Prairie Dogs and maybe a Coyote or two. We will be shooting the third week of May. Maybe if any of the forum members are going to be in Kansas that week we could meet in Syracuse. If you have shot there before P.M. me. Just shot over there on Easter Sund...

Re: PD Hunters
How I do it from beginning to end. Call/email my sister and tell her I am on my way...give a date and time. Load ammo, check out guns, decide what all to take. Load truck, drive to farm. Shake hands and chat for a few minutes, unload most of truck. Drive to the big pasture and throw out shooting tab...

Re: do the bullets splatter ?
Haven't shot a coyote at any real distance with the .204s. Farthest shot was 130 yds. which is kinda unusual for these parts. closest one was 13 yds.

Re: do the bullets splatter ?
Although I 've heard of the mythical splatter using 32 gr. Vmaxs on coyotes I have yet to experience it. Can't imagine GHs are any tougher than the coyotes. I have no experience at all on GHs...for all I know we don't have a shootable population of them anyway. I have shot a fair number of coyotes w...

Mid summer pds
Got a chance to go out and bust off a few hundred pds this last weekend. Me and a buddy hit the mother lode about mid afternoon on Saturday for whatever reason the place we were shooting just started squirting out pds all over. Then again on Sunday we drove up on a new spot and it kept us shooting f...

Re: General Reloading Questions
Ok I just got back from a couple of days on the prairie. Probably shot 4-500 rds. that I would not have been able to afford if I was paying a buck a pop for ammo. So in that sense I saved money. Prairie dogs weren't feelin it.

Re: General Reloading Questions
I have to admit that the concept of saving money sounds great and on paper it works out. Back in the day I used the very arguement to my significant other just to justify. 35 years plus, later I realized that any money I may have saved was used to buy more guns, dies, powder, bullets, primers, equip...

Re: Back from the 09 Rat Rodeo - Part I (Pics)
Rick-- Wow, you guys sure go all out to do your bit to feed those Oregon raptors. I'm sure they appreciate your efforts. Thanks for the great report and fine photos. Like you mentioned, it is very interesting to see the different setups and parts of the country our Board members use and shoot in. T...

Too bad your targets of choice 'go down for the hot weather til next year'. Our BT prairie dogs come out anytime of year as long as the sun shines on. We can shoot in Dec, Jan and just about any other time. They will even break snow to sit in the sun. Looking forward to more stories...........
