Re: Basic P.D. hunting questions

The 'outlaw' crap would only really apply to public land pds. There not many places in CO that are public lands and have pds. Not to worry.........I can get away with killing them for a depredation project as an agent of the farm. I just can't act like I like it.

Re: Basic P.D. hunting questions

Best place and when.......private land, all the time or anytime I have enough ammo to make the drive to the farm. My sister knows everyone of her neighbors. There isn't enough public land that has pds on it in CO to make seasons any issue at all. On private land you don't need a license here. (see s...

rick - its not a matter of "knowing how", its a matter of "wanting too"...lol. None of us boys want to use the camera and only after mamma does then we decide that was pretty cool. We've been trying to get out but the weather, work and family illnesses have kept us all home for a...

Re: Loctite Removal

Anything lighter than 1.5 pounds, in my humble opinion, is just dangerous. In reality any weight trigger can be dangerous, it's all about proper handling of firearms. I've got a bench gun (bolt action) that runs just under 10 ounces, this rifle (as the trigger is set) would NEVER see any field acti...

cabin fever dogs

Just got back from a great weekend of shootin pds at my sisters farm. Even the weather cooperated with us for the most part. Since we took my son and step son I was mostly relegated to spotter/guide/ammo controller....its ok it beats sitting at home watchin the snow fall. I watched my son taking out...

Re: Can't get the Carbon out of my barrel !

Thats an awful lot of cleaning for 7 shots. I'd be inclined to shoot more and clean less. But I don't believe in the whole "barrel breakin" conspiracy theory anyway. Rick IO gave you good advise about products. I once read a dissertation from a well known barrel maker that stated "far...

Re: 204 pistol

No doubt you could chamber just about any gun that will handle a .223 can be done in .204. I would suggest you read the info on the link about barrel length and the .204. Fred Smith is a stand up guy and pretty much tells things the way he sees them. If after you read his results you still want one ...

Re: .204 Ruger from .222 Rem Mag?

When I first started working with the .204 Ruger I made up case from .222 Rem mag brass from Remington. I used Silverfoxs method but the case necks were so bad I quickly abandoned the project and bought factory ammo (I swore it off years ago) just to get brass. Personally I found Hornady .204 brass ...

You got that right. The people at Steves Meats should give me a frequent visitor discount. With family and personal game animals I am into them for about $1200 and counting. I brought back four animals from the weekend.

Re: Gunnison p-dogs are hibernating

Our cold weather prairie dogs were out in bunches over this last weekend. Once the wind died down and the temps settled about 60 degrees we had some great shootin for Dec.

Mixed bag weekend

Just got back from a ‘mixed bag’ weekend on the farm. Had to catch a day or two of pheasant hunting, opening day of plains deer, tune in a friends prairie dogging rifle and spend a day bustin pds. Pheasant hunting was just that, spent a lot more time hunting and no time shooting. Seems ...
