Re: Has anybody got near Hornady published velocity?

Nope I topped out around 4100 fps with 32 gr. bullets which, all things considered is quite good. It rocks the snot out of prairie dogs. I 'm not much into pressing the issue of max loads, not my thing in any of the 20 some odd guns I load for.
A book max load of RL10x will do it.

Re: How to find places to hunt

No worries Rick I bet if I give birddog a line on a couple places to bust off a few he will not take the fact that we/I hijacked his thread to heart. That was his original request afterall. He just lives up the road from me.

Re: How to find places to hunt

There are precious few of the CDOW officers that have even read the small game regs and even fewer who care to know. I actually carry a couple of prints of ones I know they can get hung up on....sad as that may be.....just to avoid problems. Our DOW requires certain state land leasees to poison prai...

Re: How to find places to hunt

One web page I read said that Colorado banned the black tail PD (eastern part of the state) from sport shooting in 01. Is that still the case? Seems kind of stupid to me but then again I also found a couple of web sites what wants to "save" the PD's. It takes all types I guess. Gary It us...

Re: How to find places to hunt

where at in CO ? It makes a big difference as you could be as close as a few miles or as far as 350 miles from good shooting. If you are on the front range, forget public land as there isn't enough of it to shoot pds on to make the drive worthwhile. I am out on the farmlands often so when I locate a...

Re: Prairie Dog Report from the Oklahoma Panhandle

Actually in KS your best bet is to contact the County Weed Control people. For whatever reason they are responsible for pd control.

My experiences shooting in the SW KS area were much better...not great but certainly better than 25 shots in two days. Maybe ten times better.

Re: Hoppes Bore snake

If I ever hear of a serious Bench Rest Shooter pulling one through his barrel I might be intrigued enough to try one..... Na not really. How do you folks clean them things? I'm not to keen on the idea of dragging abrasive powder fouling through my bore repeatedly and intentionally. How would this b...

Re: 45 ACP

Thanks Glenn Maybe I wouldn't need any powder at all using them  At $40.00 a box I'll return them. I actually have three sets of dies for the 45 but never even learned how to use them. When the day comes I'll need to bother you for wisdom. My pistol skills are so rusty I probably couldn't deve...

Re: Basic P.D. hunting questions

No poison so far at the usual places but we found a couple of new ones we really liked. Pulled in last Friday and the landowner was there 'droppin the bomb', couple of other places we went had been done already....its not hard to tell. I leave all the very best spots for later on ...this time of yea...

jimmy - is that what you do when you want to shoot pds. ;) No, I go see a friend in CO. and I was sworn to secrecy so I can not tell where. So don't let CO. outlaw live targets. :P Jimmy Shot a couple of hundred of them last Friday and Sat.....got up yesterday to freezing drizzle and cold wi...

Re: need "where to" prairie dog info, please

Yes, "the bug" is expensive even when you don't have pdogs handy to shoot. How well I know what it costs when you do have them handy. Its not the cost per trip that kills me....its the frenquency of the trips. Going again Thursday night for the weekend, weather permitting. I can get away ...
