Re: Back from my first prairie dog hunt...

Wow, what an incredible experience. I went to Wyoming with some friends and had a great time shooting prairie dogs. I learned a lot and got to really test out the .204 in some wide open spaces. My friends were shooting .223's, .243's and a .22-250 while I had the lone .204. I can honestly say that ...

Weather and the time of year have a lot to do with what we call a good day or not. I shoot pds on private land year around so 'success' means different things at different times. In March, around spring break, a good day is maybe 100. In May a good day can be 300-400. Mid to late summer its too hot ...

Two weeks ago with my 204 & 32gr BK = One shot kill on ground squirrel at 465 yards. A few years ago in Montana, 841 yards on an unlucky prairie dog with my custom Holland/M700 243 Ackley Improved (Nos 70gr BT). As Old School noted though, the 39gr BK is a better choice in the 204 for any relia...

skb: Very cool, and shows that we're both doing our homework correctly. But I'd like to think that great minds think alike! Thanks for the info though....alwys good to have confirmation from an outside source. I used mine last weekend at some extended ranges, and made one 1-shot kill at 465 y...

Rick in O - After I saw your post yesterday I was anxious to compare my 'come ups to yours'. I had done the very same thing and wrapped the info on the top side of my scope. Since all I use are 32 gr. bullets that was the only comparison. You wouldn't believe how close they are. You could actually t...

The thought of weighing brass and bullets flashed thru my mind for one nanosecond this last weekend. I was staring thru my binos watching my son connect on several shots at pds in a row out around 400 yds. with his .204. It dawned on me (for that nanosecond) that weighing cases and bullets would ser...

Seems to me that all of the 'spray products' waste half of the container by spraying all kinds of things that don't need sized.

I use Imperial which is now sold under the Redding brand but there is supposed to be a product by the name of Rooster that is as good or better. I may never know because a small tin of Imperial may last til long after I quit handloading.
