Re: Bullet stuck in barrel
Had to do it once, not my gun. My buddy picked up some cheap reloads for his 30-06. I soaked it down with Kroil for a couple hours and used a brass 'drop rod' poked it right out.

Re: Great wife
Congratulations and I hope you have many more. 15 years ago I married my wife and didn't realize until 13 years later what a great person she really is. I was lucky and figured it out before I lost her. Among a list of other things she is my spotter, hunting friend, fishing partner, at times my taxi...

Re: Seat bullets that are not boat tail
Try big hands, .17 cal bullets, flat base, couple hundred at a time after that loading flat base .20 cals will seem like a dream come true. If you think punching .20 cal FB bullets in a .204 case tough try .17 cals in a necked down Hornet case. Back in the day there were few BT bullets of any kind a...

Re: P-dog hunting, depends on climate? Year round?
so I want to know what their habits are like Anyone who lives in the metro area of CO can assure you they absolutely do not hibernate. We see them year round as long as the sun is shining. They are not even particularly concerned about cold, they hate rain, wind and clouds. Right after the big bliz...

Re: Poisoned Prairie Dog fields - DON'T give up!
I know of two people, very well, whose 'lot in life' is poisoning pds on farm/cattle properties. They will both tell you that even the best poisoning campaign will only get between 80 and 85 % of the dogs. Rarely does anyone who does this job do it the "best". If you consider their ability...

Re: Ok, what's going on here!
Only a guess Case on the left is a factory defect. Very common but normally not as pronounced as that one. I throw those away. Case on the right looks like it was chambered up against a piece of trash and fired. Primers look about the same as most of mine from two different guns and mild loads. I ag...

Re: Hostility towards the 204
Does anybody else have experiance of people being openly hostile to the 204,or am i being overly sensitive. The reason i ask is that i was browsing another sight today when someone asked for comments on the 204,and what its uses are. Well being a helpful sort,i gave them my opinion, which is i think...

skb: Again bud, there is a slight error in all of this. Barnes has TWO coated bullets, and I think you're getting them confused. Your link is to their XLC bullet, not a varmint bullet. XLC: Their standard X-Bullet, blue coated, solid copper, intended for game hunting. VLC: Their lead core, copper c...

As far as VLCs go this is them - http://www.barnesbullets.com/products/rifle/xlc/ Varmint Grenades just didn't work for me (at no point did I say they were BAD). Other guys may use them and think they are the cats axx. I shoot alot on the open prairies of eastern CO. After the first few days of shoo...

The discussion actually envolved both the VGs, my limited experience with them and VLCs and again my limited experiences with them. The VLCs never shot for me as well as the list that includes Vmaxs (in many configurations), Blitz Kings, Noslers or even TNTs. The Varmint Grenades...this is what I go...
