New big game rifle. 338-06 AI

It's been a project in the works for quite a while now. I think I started bothering RIO well over a year ago about his thoughts about a new a non magnum rifle suitable for everything from deer to moose. We kicked around a few calibers but I landed on a 338-06 and since my plan was to rebarrel a used...

Awesome!
A moose hunt is very high on my dream hunt list.
Someday it'll happen...right?

Re: not 204 but I need help

The easy thing would be to buy Rick's 330 Dakota. Great value and you could take anything in n. america with it. However if that doesn't fit the bill for some reason, I would give another vote for the 338-06. Big step up from the 308, but easy to find brass to neck up and uses a lot less powder than...

Re: 2009 Wyoming Antelope and Deer Hunt

Nice job bronc! I really like both of those speed goats. Very unique. Sometimes it seems like they all look alike, so I've always had a thing for the funky ones.
Very nice mulie too. Wish I'd have seen one that good this year.

Nice shootin. Speed goats are a lot of fun, and they always look good in a euro mount.

I like it...she looks really proud! My 2 year old likes to pull the press down and seat the bullet. He always asks me if we can "make bullets." Don't really trust him with measuring the powder though  .

Re: High Country 204

Rick, Great pic of some familiar country. sometimes when I get frustrated that I can't find the quarry I'm after, I find a vantage point such as yours, although not always as high as the south sister  , and take a look around at all the little crevices an elk or deer could be hiding. Even with ...

Re: Primers - The REAL Story

Hope you are right that things are starting to loosen up a little. Being new to reloading I definately wasn't prepared for the shortage. The silver lining I see in this whole mess is that there are obviously enough reloaders, shooters, and hunters to cause such a shortage. This tells us our sport is...

Re: Oregon Draw Results

Verm2, sorry bout the goose egg. That's what I was expecting, but I somehow drew a snake river deer tag with no points. Woohoo!!! :D
It's been years since I hunted over there, but it's not usually tough to get away from the crowds. lots of rugged country. Time to start scouting.

Wow.
That is some sweet looking country you get to shoot in. That pic of you at the bench with the ranch in the background is awesome. Looks like pretty lonely country, and that is exactly what I like!

Stick around Guy, we'll corrupt you even more! We're also good at "purchasing mentoring", meaning we're quite adept at depleting your bank account as well. Sort of adicting, ain't it? ;) Rick takes a lot of blame around my house, and I haven't even met him face to face yet. Every time my ...

Rick,
be careful with those nice panaramics. Some of us might try to figure out exactly where you are!
Good to see you guys out defending the homeland from vermin.
