Nice huntin Squate. Nothing like taking 2 deer in one day. I've had plenty of days where I haven't even seen 2 deer in a day.
Way to go!

Re: 204's bad record on coyotes ? Help !
Here's a pic of a dog I shot with the 40 grain vmax. Looks like it could have been a .300 win. mag. It's all about shot placement. If you don't hit em right, there's a good chance they'll drag themselves off. They are tough little buggers. Only one that has got away from me was a bad shot as it was ...

Re: .50 cal. black powder coyote
Actually, I was planning on painting it, but then got worried that when I clean it with slovent, it would probably take the paint off. You have to be pretty thorough with the cleaning of these things. I went to get some camo fabric tape, but I couldn't find the kind I like in anything but a snow pat...

.50 cal. black powder coyote
I've been elk hunting in a late season muzzleloader hunt for a couple of days now, and haven't seen anything except some really nice mulies starting to rut things up. However, yesterday I had an interesting run in with a coyote that I will describe here as I sip coffee since I deemed it too stormy t...

Nice kitty! Looks like a good sized one. And nice honesty in your story. You could have omitted forgetting to chamber a shell, but definately more true to life to leave details like that in.

Re: Bull Elk - Use Enough Gun!
Nice pic of the nephew RIO. We've all been there. Hunting never goes perfectly, but discussing it and visualizing scenarios helps us all be better hunters. I'm glad you shared his story. It's a good reminder. Besides, it's tough to even think straight when you see a big bull. Buck fever ain't nothin...

Re: 204 for yotes
Welcome to the forum predhunter. I've never shot one that far out, but I primarily use my .204 for yotes. Good mix of killin power and fur friendliness is my reasoning. From what I hear however, if just killin the dogs to save deer was my goal I would probably step up to a .243 or sim. If fur is you...

Welcome to the fun Rick65Cat. No doubt there are some snipers among us. Don't claim to be one myself, but just keep an eye on this site, and all your questions will be answered...and then some.
Glad you found us.

Re: Bull Elk - Use Enough Gun!
No disagreement here, however I would say that if you choose to hunt elk w/ some lighter cal.'s just know your limits. I've shot elk w/ my .270, but you need to use premium bullets, and good shot placement. Every weapon has it's limits, and understanding the difference of each is important. For ex. ...
