Nice break-in indeed Melvin.
How long can you keep the 100% average on shots/kills?

Re: Oregon Sage Rats In September?

You might find a few if the weather is right (not to hot or cold) but you won't find very many. I saw a few ( 5 or 6) yesterday in a field that when I drove by a couple of months ago I saw literally hundreds. Like silverfox said, they usually disappear again in July when the weather gets consistantl...

No need to test it...if you follow Ricks advice I'm sure it's a shooter!

Re: Oregon Antelope

Don't get me wrong Race, hunting in your 40's is great...it's just that i'm still having trouble getting used to the fact that i'm now in my 30's. Maybe I should look at it a little differently. Like, by the next time I draw an oregon antelope tag I'll have several monster mulies and a couple of gia...

Re: Hornady 32 vmax enough for coyote?

UNB, I like 40 grain better for the wind resistance and more energy for long shots. However, I've joined in with Mel on the 39 bk's and am almost out of the vmax. I also hope to start handloading soon (next time I have some cash laying around...if ever). When I handload I'm going to try out the berg...

Ouch buddy. Sorry to hear that. Wouldn't be so bad except it takes so long to draw the tag. Oh well, they don't really taste that great.

Oregon Antelope

Pulled an antelope tag this year. First time I've hunted them in Oregon with a rifle. Took ten years to draw the tag. Most units take anywhere from 7 to 12 years to draw. I was hunting in the malhuer river unit. My Dad and his long time hunting buddy Bob came along for the ride. The weather was brut...

Re: Oregon Draw Results!!

Hey Verm, Congrats on the deer tag. Sounds like your dad will have some good hunting too. A buddy of mine took a real nice bull in the silvies last year. I also drew an antelope tag in the malhuer river unit, season 1. It took ten years and I'm really lookin forward to it. Maybe we'll pass by in the...

Re: Skippy vs. the 17hmr

Victim 1 was only about 35 yards away. He ended up a couple yards further away after impact however. Victim 2 was about 80-90 yards away. I took a nap in the sun after shooting these 2 hoping there would be a few more popping up after I woke up, but no luck. Guess they were the only two around. http...

Skippy vs. the 17hmr

I didn't have much time to shoot rats when I was turkey hunting because the turkeys were a little more challenging than last year, but I did find 2 to shoot with my new .17hmr. So in other words, I'm 2 for 2 (100%) for this gun on sage rats. Hmmmm...maybe I should just hang this gun up and keep the ...

Thanksgiving in spring.

Just got back from Fossil, OR hunting turkeys. I saw this tom struttin and gobblin across a steep draw in the late afternoon on the last day I had to hunt. I carefully walked to where I thought I would be just below him (took me about 30 minutes), and started with some hen calls. It almost scared me...

Nice tom Melvin. That's a biggin.
You don't mess around when it comes to turkeys. Can you get more than one a season?
