i hear you need 10 ft/lb of energy for every pound of yote. a 40 grain vmax has just over 400 ft-lbs at 500 yards. a 22-250, 55 grain, goin 3640 has 28 ft-lbs more (from the hornady website.) so in the end...how good of a shot are you? from the few groups i shot with my 12fv, the first 4 shots were ...

hah, i just bought the same thing with my tax returns! topping it off with a mueller eraticator.

i paid 660 after fees, but petaluma reloading is the only place that has knowledgeable staff around here. they hooked up some ammo too. i pick mine up tomorrow!

Savage's stainless barrels seem to clean up a little easier than their blue barrels, for that reason alone, the stainless VLP might be more fun to fool with. (I just bought a new .223 barrel for my FV .223, and it's stainless, to replace the old wornout pipe, I expect it to be easier to clean, too)...

sounds like i cant go wrong with a VLP...any one have problems with the FV that would make you say "go ahead and spend the extra money, its worth it" or would you be willing to put it up against a VLP? aloco, those stocks are sweet, i like the short action sniper. very nice. its looking li...
