Re: Any Rats poking there heads out in SE Oregon?
It looks like there might be a little bit of snow on the ground this weekend, and cloudy low 40s weather.

Re: Couldn't help myself
Yes it did  I was all sniper like, prone with my ghillie suit on.... and a white Tacoma sitting next to me  I'm using an 87gr. Vmax over H414, velocity is somewhere around 3350 and 3400. I really like this bullet. We found another one later yesterday with mangy stuff on its butt so dad too...

Re: Any Rats poking there heads out in SE Oregon?
The snows pretty much gone now, it's been in the high 40s most of the week. Never know though, it still could snow in march or something around here.

Couldn't help myself
Went out calling today, my dad has been having a slump, hasn't called anything for a month. We went out to our hot spot and didn't call a single dog :eew: BUT, when dad went back to get the truck on one stand I plopped down to look around at the rim with the binos. The first thing I saw when I broug...

Yep, on warm sunny days there are quite a few of them out. It sure is fun shooting them in the snow ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Verms .280 AI load work up
Yeah i figured for deer that would be a great load if it wasn't a fluke. I'll also see if it holds the .5 MOA out farther to 500-600 yards.

Verms .280 AI load work up
For info on the gun there's a post a little ways down. I loaded up some more of the 145 Speers and H4831, charges between 52 and 53.5 in .5 gr. increments, 3 shots. 52 and 52.5 loads shot around 1" or a little more. I was pleasantly surprised with the 53gr. load that shot at .663. Once I got ba...

Re: What is the most Fur-friendly bullet?
Definately try the 35 gr. Berger, but try to keep velocities under 4000. Once we got ours over 4000fps, it wasn't as fur friendly. You could also try the 40 Nosler, or berger, those are alright on fur. I've never shot a red fox, so I couldn't tell you about that.

Re: Dakota Arms?
I think somebody posted theirs, or they posted something about them, but it was a loooong time ago. If I remember right, though, they shot itsy bitsy groups, I think around .25".

Re: New Rifle!!!
Thanks guys. Count on it bullfrog ;) Rick: That was the main reason I chose that bullet, it has a great B.C and should perform well on elk. Would the 140gr. be alright on elk? I heard that the 162 Amax was a pretty good long range bullet (.621  ) as far as performance goes, supposed to go in an...

Re: New Rifle!!!
Thanks. I'll be picking up some factory second 160 Accubonds to try in it, I think that would be a sweet elk/deer bullet. I think that with some more work that it will definately be a less than 3/4 minute gun, hopefully a 1/2 minute if I'm lucky. Not that I need that for deer and elk, but it sure ma...

New Rifle!!!
Hey guys, got a new rifle on Monday last week. It's a .280 AI with a Shilen fluted barrel, Boyd JRS stock, bedded, and the trigger reworked to 3#. Stuck a Redfield 6-18 we had laying around. I found some 145 Speer SPBT that we don't use so I just loaded a few up from 52.5-53.5 grains of H4831. 53gr....

Re: Bagged another Bob Cat.
Yeah, the only problem is that I can't drive yet  We usually hunt draws with some trees and a rimrock. I've also hunted over along side of the desert that has rimrocks going around it. Called in one there and my cousin shot it. I know there are cats in there just haven't called any in yet. Went...

Re: Lucas's first and second coyote this season
Nice job. Last year there were 4 of them in our field about 300 yards away. My dad and I both bail out of the house and I was in a t-shirt and underwear
Don't recommend trying that either
Anyway good job.
