I think my savage liked 26.6 but I'm not sure. My Ar is running 26gr. of Benchmark and getting just over 4000, 24 inch fluted bull barrel. (BTW this is about 1/2", I'm not tying to crank velocity out of it. )

I haven't used a Nikon, but leupolds warranty is the best there is and their scopes are very clear.
